Please help with removing part?!?

Post by sunnyNP »

Could someone please help me with removing part of an image in inkscape? It should be easy but I can't remove a black box around an initial I want to use for an engraving. When I select break apart and remove the outer box, the rest of the design turns black. How do I remove just the outer box that I don't want to cut???? When I do a union after removing the outer box, the design remains black. Please help?

I just opened the file in Illustrator and deleted the box. I use Illustrator for most of the artwork files I create. Sorry I can't tell you how it would be done in Ink, because I don't have my laptop with me to try.

In Inkscape

Click on the node tool (it is the one under the select arrow)
See the nodes at the 4 corners of the black line? Very carefully delete each one. You'll see a lot on wonky stuff going with each delete but after they are all gone the file is fine.

Beautiful graphic by the way.
