I recreated the shapes to make this.

As for directions...

I imported the jpgs into inkscape.

Then drew a rectangle, then I Path/object to path (to get shape into nodes)

Clicked on the corner nodes and moved them around to make the sails into 4 sided shape, and to make the triangle I deleted one of the nodes.

For the palm tress, I made a circle, and a rectangle, then overlapped the cirle with the rectangle, highlited them, then path/difference. This gives you the half circle, then add nodes by double clicking where you want them, and move the lines around.

That is the simple version of what I did.

Mainly all rectangles and circles just moved about.

Ack, had a nice response typed out, then I wiped it out... ARG!

I use inkscape version 0.46 because of some quirky things with the newer versions.

I learned from this site for a full tutorial from start to finish using a bingbat. And there are A LOT of pictures, no video, 154 pictures to be exact!
So I could go at my pace, and work right along with the directions.

the dingbat she uses can be found here:

Hope this helps

:) I hate when that happens...type something all out and hit the wrong key that deletes it.

Thanks for the pointer to another great place to learn.
