I have downloaded Inkscape. and i have first started by inporting a shape to use to practice with. but when i finally get the shape into Inkscape, the program closes . Any ideas & help would be great.
You would open the svg files, and either import or paste the others. I don't know why you are having it close on you, other than it sometimes does crash (save your work often). I have an older laptop, so sometimes if I have too many files open it takes too much memory and freezes up. If it is consistently closing, tell step by step what you are doing before it crashes.
I couldn't get Inkscape to crash with any of the files I tried importing. It wouldn't import scut or psd, but they didn't crash it either. Have you been able to open any of the svg files from this forum?
I've had Inkscape do this many times and it's always related to one of the files I have saved in the folder I'm trying to open. Have you added any downloaded files to the folder you are trying to access lately? If you don't have too many files in the folder, I would suggest moving the files one by one until you find the culprit. I find this too often when I'm trying to access my "JPGs for Conversion" folder, but has also often occured with some bad svg's that I've downloaded.
I would bet this is your issue. Good luck finding the bad guy.
