Thank you for your advise.... I started playing with it and just ungrouped everything layer by layer and then regrouped and welded and that seemed to do the trick! I will post the file in SCAL 2 in a few minutes. As always thank you for being willing and helpful!

I am not sure I can word this right..... But here it goes..... I am very new to inkscape.....and I found a cute elephant that I wanted to tweak.... he was holding a guitar and I wanted him to hold some flowers instead. I was able to successfully remove the layers down to only the layer that I wanted...

Great Job....
