I put a new blade in a couple of days ago and am having trouble cutting even through normal paper. I have changed the blade height, pressure and speed and still not getting results. I have removed the blade, made sure it was inserted properly and made sure it is clean and am still encountering a problem.
My friend is also encountering a similar problem. Has anyone else had a problem with cutting?
Thanks
Problem with the Cricut blade
Re: Problem with the Cricut blade
Not to sound silly, but are you sure the blade holder (the green metal cylinder) is in correctly? I've placed my cylinder in the brackets in the wrong place before and it would never reach the paper. You should have about 1 to 1 1/2 inch of cylinder showing above and below the black arms that hold the cylinder in place. Does that make sense? I put it in where there would be only 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the black arms.
Also, make sure there's no plastic protective film or strip covering the blade. That would cause the Cricut to not cut.

Yes the blade holder is in incorrectly - I made that mistake when it was new. No plastic covering either as I have used it once last week when I put it in and it was ok. It cuts, but no properly, on 5 & 6 but drags the paper and that's on ordinary writing paper - it won't cut on anything less.
I am wondering if there have been any issues with the blade holder - maybe it doesn't drop the blade down on the different settings? Not sure how ir works.
I have the little black arrow on the blade holder showing at the front and apart from that I cannot see what else could go wrong.
It is strange that my friend and I have the same problem and we both pourchased at the same time (I ordered two).
Wonder if anyone else has an issue with blade dragging that hasn't been caused by a blunt blade?
Will post it as a technical issue on the Cricut forum if can't resolve here - thanks for help.
