Need some tech help please!

Post by CrazyForDisney327 »

Hi everyone!

I just purchased SCAL today! WOW...I absolutely LOVE...LOVE....LOVE...(did I mention LOVE) this software!! OMGosh....I'm sorry I waited so long to take the plunge!

I tried a couple of simple things just to make sure everything was working and I had an issue with some circles I was cutting. I guess it is a problem similar to what others have been describing as "slicing a line" through the image.

After purchasing SCAL, I updated my firmware....would that have updated the whole CDS software? I don't know how to tell. I never used CDS before today, so I'm not really sure if it's the udated version with the glitch to cause problems with SCAL.

I read someone's recommendation to uninstall CDS & reinstall from the CD, which I will try, but I want to make sure it will keep the correct version of firmware that I need in order to run SCAL.

Does anyone know the answer? Thanks for any help you can provide.

It sounds like you might still be using the trial version. After you purchase SCAL, you should have gotten an email with a certification number in it. You have to register to make your SCAL know it's been purchased. Some people have found their email in their Spam or Junk email folders, so be sure to look there for it. You should get the email right away after purchase. If you didn't, go to the Support menu option on SCAL home page and fill out the email form explaining your problem.

I never did the trial of SCAL, I purchased it & registered it immediately. I guess I'll try uninstalling my CDS, reinstalling and go from there.

Thanks for your input, I do appreciate it!! :P

Yes. You want the Cricut firmware that comes with the original version of CDS. At least, that's what Todd told me when I bought SCAL and found that it cut slowly. Turns out, I had downloaded the new version of CDS. Once I got rid of it and reinstalled the original CDS from the box, my SCAL worked fine.

When you uninstall the updated version of CDS then reinstall back to the original version using your CD, your firmware update will still stay at 1.1 so no worries there.

Once you uninstall/reinstall the original version of the software, you have to do a firmware update. The firmware seems to be dependent on the version of the software.
