gsd file into svg
does anyone know if you can change a gsd file into a svg to cut in scal.
Re: gsd file into svg
You probably can via Inkscape, a free vector program. See the Inkscape tutorials people have posted on these boards, or the Inkscape tutorials available via help in Inkscape for more information
Re: gsd file into svg
I have tried everything. Apparently there is a plug in that you need in Illustrator to convert files to GSD, but not the other way around. I have not been able to open then in Illustrator and previously posted to see if anyone had info on this. As of now, I don't think it's possible... and I have tried.... a lot!

Re: gsd file into svg
I did a search on gsd in these forums. I found a response from Susibi who is very knowledgeable about Inkscape:
Does this help? You can't go GSD to svg in Inkscape, GSD is peculiar to Graphtec software and can't be opened by other programs- although several programs say they can very few actually give good results.
What you can do is: open your gsd in its software ( Robomaster, Silhouette, Wishblade) then do a screen shot, save as jpeg and open and trace in Inkscape OR print as .pdf open in Graphics program, save as jpeg then trace in Inkscape.

Re: gsd file into svg
Just to be clear - the plug in for ROBOmaster in Illustrator is not to convert files to gsd it is to allow you to design in Illustrator then cut your files directly in Craft ROBO without going through the CR software.
To open a gsd file you need the software it was created in ie ROBOmaster, Silhouette or Wishblade. KNK software will open a few gsd files but not all.

Re: gsd file into svg
Not sure if this will help anyone or not, but I had the worst time trying to find the Craft Robo software (or any ohter software that would let me see GSD files). Here is a link http://www.quickutz.com/qk2/silhouette/software.aspx. You can then print to pdf (if you have Adobe Acrobat full) or screen print and make the changes you need in Photoshop, etc.

that is pretty much what I have been doing.hbennett wrote:Not sure if this will help anyone or not, but I had the worst time trying to find the Craft Robo software (or any ohter software that would let me see GSD files). I use printscreen, open that in adboe photoshop, crop it down to what I need, save, open in inkscape, trace, save as svg. done

Ladies,
I am downloading right now from the link provided. Am I to assume that I do not have to have a wishblade, silhouette, knk attached to my computer for this software to 'work'?

Re: gsd file into svg
Well, so far no luck getting this program installed on my Vista system. I am downloading it again, thinking maybe the first download was corrupted or something..........
