I made a wordbook today using SCAL 2 (2.01) and wow. It was an awful experience. I couldn't get the book to work in layers, so I tried pages and that worked a little better. But only just. The biggest problem seemed to be getting the letters to stay shadowed. They kept jumping back to normal size. Then, while adding the rectangles, I couldn't get the cursor to pick up the right one to stretch when I tried making them in layers.
When I'd get all that straightened out (multiple times), then I'd go to cut the thing out and it'd revert to the 6 inch mat. My wordbooks are always 7 inches deep, to accommodate 4x6 photos, so that meant back to square one, which meant all the letters bounced back to normal size and I had to start over. Meantime, the multiple cut button seems to work only intermittantly.
I love the features that Todd's added but they don't seem to work nearly as smoothly as SCAL 1. I know that it's more sophisticated software and that he's working the bugs and that's good. But if he'd been at my house today...well, let's just say he wouldn't have wanted to be at my house today!

Laura did you set you cutter mat file to 12x12 plus your mat size on the right hand column to 12x12?? you have to have both set... otherwise it reverts back to 12x6...

Re: Wordbook nightmare
Thanks. I didn't realize you had to set it in two places. That'll ease up one problem. I've downloaded 2.002, so I'm hopeful for better results. I do love SCAL.
