Guitar card - SCAL2

Post by raewyn64 »

Thanks to Melinda Ford who posted a svg file a while back for a guitar
http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... tar#p24287

My nephew is learning guitar and it is his birthday soon. I took the svg file of Melinda's and added some layers to it in Inkscape and then cut them out using SCAL2 and the new layers feature.
I cut it using 12 x 24 card which I had and it has made an awesome card. My husband had some light aluminium rod which we moulded around the inside of the card to strengthen it and then I covered that with another cut of the card.
The "card" part itself is just of the body of the guitar, not the neck part.
And then finally I found some old cottons of my grandmothers which were silver and they made the strings.
I am really thrilled with this and that it stands on its own too. My nephew will be able to put it on a shelf or hang it on his wall.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Laura I am not sure which parts you wanted close ups of but took a photo of the body and the top part of the guitar where the strings start and stop.
Hope you can see things a bit better in these photos.
Thanks again
