Question, I'm confused

Post by NELS »

OK I love asking dumb questions.. Not really but here goes. When you have an image in Inkscape how do you make sure it is svg. Is is automaticlly svg. I am confused here as you can tell. If it is svg do you import it. When I know it is SVG I've clicked on import and then I get the box that says Add or the All Images etc Open. I don't know what to do next because I don't see the name of my Inkscape file. When do you use Export Bitmap and when do you Import. Don't laugh too hard at my questions or me...

ok.. lets see if I can help at all.

When you click "save as" in inkscape.. it will default to saving as a .svg file. You dont have to do anything special.

The import function is for images that arnt .svg files. like .bmp .gif or .jpeg. You would click file > import and pick a file.

When you are trying to import files.. you said you dont see the name of your inkscape file. Are you looking in the folder that you saved them too? I have a "Cricut" folder on my computer, where I keep all my files. But when you click on import, it defaults you to the "inkscape" folder. You have to use the list on the left side to find the folder where you saved your image to. That sounds confusing.. I am not sure how to explain how to find your files. Maybe someone else can help with that.

I have never used the export bitmap button, so I am no help there. I use the import button when I want to use any image that is not an .svg file yet.

I hope that helps even a little. Good luck.
