2.0 Version of cricut....and need 2.1

I'm trying to get my new SCAL to work with my Cricut Expressions and my Cricut says it's 2.0.....and the Scals needs 2.1 or 2.3. What am I to do? I read somewhere on here that you download the trial version of Design ??? that did not come with my set.....and I wasn't planning on buying that, I didn't think? I did download the free trial, but it looked like it was for 2.0 anyway. I do not have Vista on my computer...so will that matter? I'm so disappointed, 'cause for the last 2 days I was wanting to play...and all I have done is sit here on the computer, accomplishing nothing I read where that one lady went to another computer and it worked, but I dont really want to do that. Any suggestions?

Download and install the FREE trial version of Cricut's Design Studio Software from their website. (Cricut's sofware has the firmware you need and you're just going to use the trial version to get it.)

Open the Cricut Design Studio Software

Connect your Cricut to your computer using a USB cable.

Grab the instructions you printed and follow them.

Close the Cricuit Design Studio Software program.
(You no longer need it on your computer and you can uninstall it.)
