How do you weld cutouts?

How do you weld things to make a cut out? Like this?

Or how do you make a heart 'cut out' with the words in the middle? like this?

the only way I know how to do this is to use Inkscape... there are a ton of free tutorials online about it... I taught myself in a couple of hours just messing around...

on a side note... that second card you have pictured is adorable! I wish I had the pattern for that...

OMG! Thank you Nellie! I was just hoping to learn how to do it but this saves tons of time. After thinking about it finally I think I have processed how to do it. I know what I was doing wrong:) THANKS everyone!!

Those are awesome cards...someone used the term snagging and I like that better than stealing, so consider that card snagged :lol:
