Newbie Questions

Post by inthePottershand »

1) I have an old print shop 17 that I found (I am not sure if I can download it on my Vista), but could I take the 1000's of images from there and convert them to cut??

2) Then, I have tried to follow some of the tutorials, but I am running into some problems. First, I downloaded the Lauries Country Fonts and it is in my downloads folder. How to I get it to save in the inkscape. If I go to my downloads and open the zipped file and go into inkscape it is there, but if I had just opened inkscape, the font is not there.
Along those lines, when I hit the A on the left side and go to type in a letter, it is so small. I can't figure out to make it larger. Although, I haven't tried with the mouse yet....

Thankfully I will see my sister in a few weeks and she is somewhat familar with this program, so I am hoping she can walk me through some of the ins and outs.

thanks for the help

Hi you really need a graphics program that can import jpgs like Inkscape. Inkscape turns the jpgs file into a svg (scalable vector graphic) that SCAL can cut from. Other programs can as well like Illustrator but Inkscape is a free program.

As far as the font goes unzip it into your windows/font folder. Im guessing Vista has this as well as winxp.

Open Inkscape go to the A in lh side up the top tool bat a text name will appear and a size choose your size.

If you want to change the default font make a font box on your work place, go up to the T in the toolbar find the font you want, set as default, click apply and close. Start typing the text should be the one youve choosen.
