Fold lines in Inkscape

If you make a box or envelope template in Inkscape and wish to save it as an .svg to cut in SCAL you can't draw the fold lines on the template otherwise Cricut will cut along those as well as it can't differentiate between folds and cut lines. What you can do is draw tiny lines on your template at the beginning , middle and end of the fold lines to show you where to score by hand.
If you do this the normal Path>Object to path command will not work as non closed paths ( ie straight lines) do not obey the same rules as closed paths ( squares, circles etc) so the command to use when you have single non connected lines on your template is
Path>stroke to path then save as .svg.
Try and see!

I want to learn how to do this but I am not quite understand what you are saying....
Do you save your design as a .svg first - then go back and add the fold lines using the steps you stated?

No - draw your template, add the fold marks last; select all and Path>Stroke to Path

I tried out first in Inkscape by drawing a rectangle then adding an unconnected short line in the middle:
Path>Object to path and save as .svg . SCAL Imported only the rectangle
Went back drew rectangle added unconnected line then select all and Path>Stroke to path
SCAL imported both the rectangle and the unconnected line.
When I saw it could be done I didn't go any further but the theory seems sound - have you tried it with a template?

Susibi,
No, I haven't tried this yet. I've been kind of 'under the weather' here so my laptop is not currently connected to my bug. I have been R&R'ing on the couch and trying to learn Inkscape......
If anyone else wants to jump in here all are welcome!
