Node editing question

Post by cbauer50 »

I traced an image in Scal 3 (newest version 3.022) and want to do some node editing.

I am new to this - but I can't move any of the nodes? I did use the "break apart" but still can't move the nodes.

Is there any good video tutorial that really explains node editing in detail?

Thanks.

Could you see outlines around the pieces when using break apart? Sometimes you need to "ungroup" also. Did you click on the node tool so you can actually see the nodes?

Click on node till box turns blue and drag...hold left mouse key down and pull, use round handles to angle lines. Sometimes you need to reselect and do several break aparts. It all just takes time and practice.

Question, where did you get a 3.022?

You could post your trace(if it is not copy protected) to see if other's can do it.

The beginning of this video explains the node tool in SCAL2, but I think it's still the same for SCAL3.

Also, when you open SCAL3, go to the "help" option, click on "hints" then "edit shapes." There's an explanation there.

Okay - I think I got it - I did a "select all" and "break apart" and now I can moved/edit nodes.

Darn, that link does not open. I thought this was about drivers though. I don't have a problem with driver's.

Are you sure when you open your scal 3 that it does say 3.022 and not 3.019?

Just a comment about node editing: sometimes if there are multiple objects close to each other, it won't let you grab the nodes to move. It helps to click on some of the other items layers (the eyeball) to make them not shown, and then you can move the nodes. Took me a while to figure that out, and there are times when it helps a lot.
I use a BabyBug, SCAL2.
