Have a Happy Day swing card- cut file added

Post by ptpulley »

Here is a photo of my first swing card. It's a tri-fold with tabs and slots on the back so it stands closed. It's kind of hard to tell, but there are clouds on the inside and the sun swings freely in the opening.

WOW, is this print and cut also?...this is sooo cute! Could you maybe take a pic of it open, I can't see how the tabs work and the sun swings. OH, but it is so darn cute!!!

Cool idea, I am ready for some sun here in OHIO! We haven't had a lot of snow but a lot of rain along with gray and ugly! Ugh, I am sick of it!

No, it's not print and cut-- I haven't figured out how to do that yet! I just designed the cut file. I made the front a little wider than the two sides, and then put two little tabs on the back of one side, which go into slots on the other side. I made two little 'things' to hang the sun from, and just cut into them at the bottom so that they would slide through the little holes, but they won't come undone. Clouds on the back of the two sides end up inside the card when it's folded and standing. I attached a few more photos so you can see it better.

If you are interested in the cut file, I'd be glad to share.

Thanks so much for all the nice comments. The file is really pretty simple. I made the sun flames in two pieces because I wanted to add some dimension, but it didn't really work. The sun didn't hang right. If you want to make it simpler, you could put the two flame pieces on top of each other, highlight both, and go 'path, union' to make them one piece.

When you put this together, there are two little pieces that I used to hang the sun. Cut a little slit at the bottom of the hole, close to the straight 'stem' part, so that you can slide the hanger through the other holes, without it coming undone. You can probably see the little slits I made in the closeup photo. I made lots of clouds, but you probably won't need them all. Let me know if you have any questions about how this goes together.
