Smallest Size Design

I am a newbie..just got my cricut expression last week. I want to make glass etched votive holders for my niece's wedding. I have created a design that has some intricut cuts. Is there a "smallest" size on the cricut expression?

Also, what's the difference in sizing the design on the mat and setting the design size on the actual machine?

I need to get these done by 7/10/2011 so any responses now would be greatly appreciated.

If you are working with scal your sizing is done in scal. The sizing on the machine is for the cartridges.
It would be helpful if you could show us the design so someone maybe could tell you the smallest it could nicely be cut out of vinyl for the etching. And give the dimension of the votive if possible, or the area you would like etched.

Thank you for your reply!! The votive is 2" wide and 2 1/2" high.

I'm attaching the design. Right now it looks "okay", but I think I'd like to make it look a little more "elegant".

Again, I'm thankful for any assistance.

The measurements I have set right now are 4" wide and 1" high.

I think your work looks perfect.. If you want to add a little elegancy to it (but I do think it looks great) Why not add a couple of hearts at each end???

Butterfly, the video was great!! Did you make this yourself? My problem is that the "flourish" is very thin and I'm afraid it won't cut right so the stencil looks nice. I'm attaching another choice I'd like to use, if it's possibe to cut the stencil out about 1.5" wide and 1" high.

Yes I made one but I used it on an 8x10 mirror for a gift, That is why I kinda back peddled on my earlier response. But I really wanted to tell you about it
I will look at your file and see what I think I hope a few of the others will too, Because every machine cuts a little different than the other you may be able to do it one way and I may have to do it another so really the best way is for you to grab a scrap and have a go at it

I don't believe that it will cut that small but if you try make sure you have a good sharp blade for best results

Hi All...I've changed my design a bit but have kept it the same size. The machine seems to get the "design" part right, but I haven't found the best material to use. I've tried contact paper, freezer paper, vinyl, plaid blanc stencil sheets, sheet protectors.

Does anyone have an idea for something that will cut clean and be able to bend around the glass votive?

The papers are not strong enough to use over and over (I need to make 100+), and the stencil material is too stiff.

HELP!! I have to get this done by June 10th!!! (I think I bit off more than I can chew). The ads all said the Cricut Expression could cut as small as 1/4", but I guess they mean block letters.
