HELP making a shape filled with shapes!
HELP making a shape filled with shapes!
I am trying to make a heart shaped filled with flowers in a card so I have the heart shape cut out on the front of the card but the cutout shape is filled with flowers. I hope it makes sense! I know I have to somehow weld flowers inside the heart but how do I get it to cut without cutting the heart shape out as well?!!!!

Re: HELP making a shape filled with shapes!
I read your message on the SVGCUTS forum first so I've copied and pasted my response below:
Thanks for posting this message - I don't normally design in SCAL but decided I would see if this could be done - and VOILA! Here's the steps I took:
1. Place your rectangle on mat
2. Position heart in desired location
3. Select both objects and then go to PATH and select EXCLUDE. You should now only see one object on your mat - the card base with a heart shaped opening.
4. At this point, I locked this layer so that it would be easier to position and move things around.
5. Position your flowers where you want them - be sure they overlap each other and also onto the card base itself.
6. Select all of your flowers and WELD
7. Unlock the base layer and SELECT ALL and then WELD
8. If you preview the card at this point you should have what you are looking for.
Hope this helps!

No problem - I hope it works for you! Here's the card I made - need to do some embellishing and such yet. I'm also attaching the cut file made in SCAL2.

Gorgeous...thank YOU!!!
Re: HELP making a shape filled with shapes!
That's lovely. Can I ask how you make the score line down the centre of the card like that? Thanks.

Re: HELP making a shape filled with shapes!
Just simply create a line with the pen tool and then change the properties on the line to dashed - much easier than creating a dashed line in inkscape!
