Welding...what am I missing?

Okay... I've got to be missing something.

My letters are not cutting in the welded fashion. And when I highlight the letters to ensure that I chose the Weld function, I indeed did. So what's up? Why aren't they cutting welded?

Make sure that your letters are overlapping. The lines around the letters/objects are fairly thick, so things can look like they are touching and they might not be. This is the one time I prefer Preview All instead of preview to show the actual edges of the cuts (but not if the letters are actually welded). Can you post one of your scut files so that we can get a better idea of what else might be the problem?
