SCUT2 File out to Inkscape
I have tried to use the interface in SCAL but .... Well you know. I would like to try using Inkscape. I have a SCUT2 file I would like to edit. Any way of getting to a format to do so? The biggest trouble I am having with SCAL is when I try to past a object to a new layer it moves it grip coordinance.

Use "paste in place" to get it to stay in the same location.
The workaround for getting SCUT2s to Inkscape is here if it comes to that

Thank you.
How about this.. Is there a way to break apart the nodes of a outline to make them all unique.

No, because then you would not have a path, but just random nodes. You can edit nodes individually, though, use the node selection tool (2nd arrow from the top) and move or delete them however you like.

I don't think I am following you. Unless it is text (including dingbats), it is already a path. If it is text, then use the convert to outlines command in the text menu.
If you are not talking about a shape that is already in SCAL, then you need to import it with the images button or svg button, depending on whether it is an svg or not.

Re: SCUT2 File out to Inkscape
I have an ear regular shape that is close so there is fill. I wish to turn that into a open ended path. The Trouble is it is in a SCUT2 file. This would be very similar to what I just found in inkscape link to help page At the bottom you see the ctrl+alt+/ (The path Division operation) this is what I would like to do to my shape turn it into lines.

Oh, I get it now. Heather and I have both been trying to figure out how to do this and we have not come up with a solution. Is there any way you could trace over them with the pen tool? Otherwise you will have to take a screen shot and then open it up in Inkscape, autotrace it and then use the path division tool you mentioned.

Screen shot seems to be an ugly way of doing things. It would be nice to reverse the SVG-SCAL2 and just SCAL2-SVG.

Right, that's on the wish list but until then we have to use the ugly workaround. Also on the wishlist is a way to open closed paths.
