Tool Mesh

Post by sweetpeahome »

This is the first time I have done this, and am very happy with how it turned out. It cuts great on cardstock, didn't try on lighter, but can't see it being a problem. If someone could tell me how to save as svg, I would be happy to post it too. I have tried to upload a picture, but don't think I have done it right and can't figure out how. I know how to do the svg, but not scut.

Now I can't even upload it. What am I doing wrong, it says the file is too big.

Boy, all those views and no one knows how I make a scut file smaller for upload or how to upload as svg?

You could zip the scal file up and that way you might be able to post it.
Unfortunately there is no easy way of creating a SVG from a SCAL File. You can find a tutorial here http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/2010 ... ut-to-svg/

I tried to do what that blog said already but can't get a screen print to work. I am on a mac computer, but use windows for SCAL.
I have zipped it and added it to this message, hopefully that works

Hi
Your tools mesh looks great.
Here is a SVG of your tools mesh. I used the method Kay discribes on her blog. Kay is also a MAC user so she might be able to help you out with screen capture.

SweetPea,
To get a screen capture on a Mac, just press shift-command-4. you cursor will turn into a crosshatch and you can click on one corner of what you want to snap and drag to the other. Release and the screen shot in png format will be on your desktop titled Picture 1,2,3 etc. (Built in for 20 years, can't believe Windows still can't do this without a separate app)

I am not sure if this works when you are in a Windows app or if you have to use windows screen shot tools there. Scrappy Dew might know, but try the above first and see.

Thanks I had tried that but didn't think it had worked cause I didn't see it in windows. THen realized even though I am in windows it saved it to my mac desktop. Neat feature.

Another way to reduce file size is to simplify the node numbers, as long as it doesn't screw up the integrity of the file/cut.

in inkscape it is Path/Simplify or Ctrl + L)
