Getting distorted shapes from SVG Created in Illustrator

Post by Kryana »

Hi there! I created some detailed shapes in Illustrator and when I import the SVG file into SCAL, the shapes are distorted. This is the first time I'm seeing this happen, I've been working with SCAL for over 5 years. I've attached the original SVG file as well as a screenshot of how the shapes look in SCAL. Thanks in advance!

Editing to add: the distortion seems to be most obvious as you move to the left side of each shape.

Sorry for the delay.

I downloaded your SVG file and imported it into SCAL6, Inkscape, Sign Lab, and Corel Draw. In all cases, the shapes were distorted the same way. This indicates something happened during the SVG export from Illustrator. I assume a Compound Path had already been applied to these shapes either directly or as a result of other functions, such as welding. I'm not an Illustrator user but I know from 10 years ago that sometimes certain things had to be applied to circles (and other basic shapes) as well as to export settings to make sure the SVG versions were accurate when imported into other programs. Anyhow, here is a screenshot from Inkscape to confirm:
