So the question comes up frequently on "What cutter should I buy?" I thought it would be nice to start a thread where those that are using various cutters can comment on their "actual experiences" and what they like or dislike about their "other" cutters that work with SCAL. Such things as clean cuts, ease of use and setup, use of mats/or not....hope you get the idea.
It would be great to see the responses.

Re: New Cutters - What do you use & please share pros and co
I'm very curious to see the answers, as I am stuck with my Cricut Expressions and I want to use it with a program like SCAL. The buying cartridges and non-computer layout is ridiculous. I played with the SCAL version (that would no longer work with my Cricut) and loved it so that's why I'm considering selling my Cricut and buying a new cutter I can use with a SCAL program.
The SCAL makes it SOOOO much easier. The only thing easier would be a Font & Image swap site, where you could "grab" and use different fonts & images. This was something I really wanted to get into but found it wasn't as easy as I thought and it is a little challenging for me, and I'm 25. I love to do crafts and have always wanted a cutter but the Cricut seemed so simple but I don't think it's what I want in reference to using my cutter with a program like SCAL (even the Cricut computer program is a waste unless you own ALL those stupid cartridges :/ )

Just to keep this message alive, CE just posted on the thread on the Silhouette Cameo this message:
If you are using Windows, you can use the CraftROBO option as your cutter and it should cut with a Silhouette CAMEO ok.

(Here is the link to the thread with CE's direct response.... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26111
Those of you that have the cameo -- would love to hear your reports.

I can't get the link to work either. I went on CE's home page, etc. and can't find it either.

Re: New Cutters - What do you use & please share pros and co
I own the Gazelle and I love it. I sat down over the weekend and calibrated my machine, once again because I lost the numbers for laser registration, for the P&C and got perfect cuts. I find the Cricut mats work well with P&C and they are in the store so I don't have to order them plus you could also do the re-sticky to cut down the expense. The software that comes with it has a learning curve but you can always use SCAL3 to cut. I haven't tried SCAL3 with the Gazelle yet and I'm sure I should cuz if I lose my dongle, Funtime software which comes with the Gaz requires a dongle, I will fall back on SCAL3.
The Gaz can cut a full 12" instead of being reduced to 11.5" and I think SCAL3 has addressed that issue in one of the updates.
I think the video's and tuts on the forum are very helpful.
