Thanks in advance

Great advise Heather. That's the way I do it. On rare occassions, when the design has graduated fill applied, creating multiple layers, I export to a jpg, or bmp file. Flood fill the image I want to copy, and trace the edges. I've even selected the background, then used select inverse, painted the design black, and then traced using trace outline. I use many tricks to get what I want quickly. It's quicker than it sounds. You can also copy/paste the parts from the orginal vector file, to complete the design. There's more than one way to get the job done quickly and accurately.HeatherM wrote:There may be a better way, but try Object/Compound path/Release, then Object/Ungroup. This will let you use the Selection tool rather than the Direct selection tool to select the lines that you want to delete. HTH
