Design studio update & SCAL?

I have Design Studio and 1.016 version of SCAL. I rarely use my Design Studio, but I have a project that I used Design Studio and it's asking me to update my firmware. I am afraid to do that, I don't want to loose functionality of SCAL. Will that happen? If I do update and I've lost SCAL can I then just upgrade to 2.0 version and everything will be working again. I also am using Windows 7 on a PC. TIA
