trying to import wall quote to SCAL

Post by quinn03 »

Is it possible to import a wall quote into SCAL using Inkscape. I am using MS WordArt, I type one line at a time for a Wall Quote in WordArt and copy the image and then click edit in Inkscape, save it as a SVG file. I bring up SCAL and click on SVG, it is in SCAL but when I try to cut it with the cricuit it has a message that reads as follows: The SVG file contains embedded images and/or fonts and will not be displayed. All images and fonts in a SVG must be converted to outlines first.

Will someone explain what I didn't do! Thank you in advance for any help.

As long as it shows on your mat it will cut.. Just ignore the embedded images.. What you see on your SCAL mat is what will cut... as long as it isn't grayed out..

It shows on the screen in SCAL, but when I go to cut with the Cricuit, I put the 12 x 24 matt in the cricuit. I then click on the siccors. Cricuit Firmware box comes up I click on "ON" the cutting with cricuit box comes up for 2 seconds and then the cricuit cut session box comes up and says cutting has completed when it actually never cut anything. What am I doing wrong.

Is it because I am trying to send an image from MS WordArt that is all TEXT? I'm getting very frustrated, can you help me?

I answered your other post for a more efficient way to get images from Word to SCAL (no Inkscape needed) but let me address your other problem.
Most of the time when you get the cutting complete method with no cutting, it is because the image is too close to (or over) the cutting boundary. Try moving your image toward the center of the mat and see if it will cut then.
