While on Page 2, can you view the outline from Page 1

Post by Diane in Corona »

I'm very new with SCAL, but I have more experience with the Design Studio. Want I want to accomplish is a welded title with a shadow of the title on one page. In Design Studion I can for example create the shadow/welded title on page one, then create the title on page 2 with the ability to see the outline from page 1 on page 2. This obviously really helps with accurate sizing. Is there a way to accomplish this in SCAL?

I saw a question that someone asked about creating a shadow for a letter in SCAL and the person that answered said to go to the shadow selection under appearance, but I cannot find appearance anywhere.

Please help! Thanks, Diane

You can see both pages in preview all mode, but it is the outline only with no interior details. It is much easier/better to use layers in SCAL instead of pages for this. Look under workspace advanced to find the layers palette

You have to have an object selected before you see appearance on the palette. Then you click where it says normal to reveal the other choices. Also be sure it is not covered up by another palette and that it is scrolled down all the way. Some of the options have a tendency to get covered up so you don't see them.

All this is shown on my video about stitching and scoring

I think svgcuts.com/blog has a video on layering also.

Firstcut, I see you are online so hopefully you can give me a reasonably quick response.

When I create layers, say a picture frame that has a top and bottom layer, assuming I want them cut from the same colour card, do I separate the two images on the SCAL mat and then send to cut so there are two pieces or do I just keep them as one image. Sorry, the lovely pumpkin video was not entirely clear on this matter.

Hope you can help.

Jan,
I am not sure I understand what you are asking. If I have 2 pieces on 2 different layers but I want to cut them out of the same color I would move one of the layers to another part of the mat and cut with both layers visible. if you leave them stacked then they will cut on top of each other. If you want the 2 pieces to cut as one piece you need to put them on the same layer so you can weld them together. Use preview (not preview all) to see what is going to cut.

Thanks Kay, you have actually clarified that for me. Much appreciate the response.
