I'm pulling together a "SCAL Club" for April and the theme is FONTS! I'm hoping to get 20 people to go out, find a font that cuts well in SCAL, and then each one has to create 20 "swatches" using that font. We'll come together (face-to-face in Columbus, Ohio) or remote (via snail mail) to swap our swatches. I'm giving everyone who participates a chip board swatch book to store their swatches.

I've already got 12 of the 20 people signed up! I thought about doing 26 folks (1 for each letter), but thought that might be a bit much to ask each person to create 26 swatches.
This month I'm doing fonts that cut well. In future months, I'm thinking of doing dingbats and then fonts that work well with markers (like the new fine line gel pens).
I know, you can always look at fonts online or on your PC and you can even print a catalog of fonts. But I'm really tactile person and like the idea of holding a sample in my hand. I'm also really excited to see how creative people get with their swatches. It's my interpretation of "artist trading cards" (ATC) with a purpose - to build a books of font samples.
You can read more about how I'm doing this on my site at:

I would welcome any ideas/opinions/thoughts on this idea. So far, the feedback has been great and maybe it's something others might like to try doing.
