Upgrading question?

Post by pattylt »

Hello all,
I am still running good ole' SCAL 1.x and until recently, was just peachy keen with it. I have come to the realization that I really have been missing out on some very useful new features and need to upgrade. I have a few questions.
1. I notice some coupons on there for 30% off SCAL2. Does that include upgrades? I don't even know what the price is for an upgrade vs. new purchase so thought I'd ask.
2. What is the best practice for performing this upgrade? Should I uninstall v.1.x then install v.2x or should just download and install the new version (and is the new version and the upgrade version the same?)
3. Are any new firmware upgrades needed with the v.2.x? (I have the original bug but updated the firmware when I bought SCAL 1)
4. What question should I be asking and need to know the answer to that I have not asked? :D

Thank you all for your wealth of knowledge in this forum and willingness to help people like me!

Ohhhhh you don't know what you've been missing..LOL..
NO I'm not a sales rep I'm just a proud owner of SCAL2 :D
You only pay for SCAL2 you don't pay for the upgrades :D .. ..It does so much more than SCAL1 .. :D

I can't remember: did we get a discount when we moved from SCAL 1 to SCAL 2? It seems like it?

If there is a discount, it may have expired already?

But whatever you decide, you don't have to do anything with SCAL 1... You will just have both (if you get the next one)

And like Sweetness said: you don't have to pay for the updates... Just the upgrade... I'm not sure if I am making sense? Am I?

Yes! You are both making sense. I couldn't remember if the newer version was a complete new install or if they had an upgrade version with those of us using SCAL 1. I do remember that SCAL 1 users got the newer version for a discount but you are probably right that it had an expiration date.

Well, since I have a discount coupon, I will just purchase v.2.x. Is the latest version pretty stable?
