I'm trying to PRINT some dings...
I tried printing from word, but I cant get it big enough.
I thought perhaps inkscape would be a better option.. But I can't even figure out how to just type a simple ding...
It wants to stay on the default font... and like I said, I can't even just type something.. I know there's a step I am missing, but I don't know what it is...

Re: How to PRINT
I found this in the Inkscape Help, Inkscape Manual, Formatting Text: Hold down the Shift, Control, T keys at the same time. That popups up a Text and Font window. In there on the Font tab, you can choose the font you want, then click on the Set as defult button, then click on close. The problem I see though for dingbat fonts and the like is that you have to know which letter of the alphabet the dingbat you want is mapped to. I don't see a viewer of the font in Inkscape (yet). There may be other ways, that's just one way I saw off the bat. HTH
Re: How to PRINT
Thank you, that does help... I changed the font with that, but now what?
when I type, nothing happens...
I know what you mean about not knowing which ding is which letter... That's just gonna have to be trial and error for me...
<<< Is this what I want? No, maybe it's this one... nope, maybe this one... oh there it is... >>>
anyway how do I get it to show up??

Re: How to PRINT
I don't know how to help further. I changed the font, chose the A icon (Create and edit text objects), clicked in the page and just started typing. Did you select A on left icon bar near the bottom? Maybe you still have the arrow selector active.
Re: How to PRINT
Yep, that was it!!!

Re: How to PRINT
The text and font window can be opened by simply clicking on the T on the top tool bar. I always advise changing fonts this way as it's more stable than the drop down font menu.
Even though you can see all your fonts in this window Inkscape will sometimes not allow you to use them- there are fonts it just doesn't like and will go back to default when you try to use them.
After you have chosen your font just click on the big A on the left hand tool bar and start typing. If you are using a dingbat font you could try using a font viewer to see the designs and which letters they corrispond to.
