just wondering how an svg file cuts with SCAL on the cricut in comparison to cutting the same file on the wishblade.
I've been looking at some files posted here & taking a look at the nodes. Some of them are very node-y looking & seems that they might cut better if they were cleaned up a bit (just my observation).
So if you have both machines, have you tried any of the files posted here on both machines to compare how the cuts are? If you have, which machine/software makes a better cut or what are your preferences?
thanks!
question for someone that has a wishblade & the cricut
Re: question for someone that has a wishblade & the cricut
can you cut an .svg on Wishblade - I thought you had to create a .dxf?
We found that .dxf files created in Inkscape often had a load of nodes and did cut rather slowly, so the best way was to export as a bitmap then import to your cutter software and use the autotrace feature.
The Inkscape file can be simplified by Path>Simplify before saving to loose a few nodes ( the amount of simplifying can be set in the Inkscape preferences) but does lose definition.
I've tried cutting a couple of my converted templates on the Cricut and it seems to cut slower than my Robo but the quality is the same.

the svg files do have to be converted, but I wanted to know how well the cut or didn't cut in comparison to using SCAL & the cricut.
thanks!!!
thanks!!!

How can you view the nodes on an image?I've been looking at some files posted here & taking a look at the nodes. Some of them are very node-y looking & seems that they might cut better if they were cleaned up a bit (just my observation).

Re: question for someone that has a wishblade & the cricut
I had a Craft Robo (UK equivalent of the Wishblade) and I have just got a Cricut, I have only just downloaded the SCAL software and cut my first lettering this morning, I think that the SCAL software is "rounding off" all the fonts
I just cut three different san serif fonts which should have very sharp corners/edges and they are all rounded.
Is this a bug, just the nature of the software or something I am doing wrong in set up ?
I think I will post this as a seperate issue anyway.
