strange things happening with my programs ?

i am totally confused by what's happening with my software programs but now i can use scal with cds that has the new updated carts on it with it cutting a line throught it :o but inkscape has gone funny i cant place text on there i just get a box if i try to make a letter bigger and my apply bitton on the text box is not highlighted either but the save a default button ok ? anybody got any ideas on whats happening ? i have not updated or downloaded anything so im totally in the dark :?

can you perhaps try to uninstall Inkscape and re-install it?
