Can you make score lines with SCAL?

Post by 1jazzylady45 »

I am VERY new to SCAL. I am making my daughters wedding invitations and I have the invite itself all done and it cuts out just right. I did add dotted lines where I need to score it because I am really bad at lineing things up with out a visual line (if that makes sense). Can you set us SCAL to cut the two things at different depths/pressure? When I cut it out the "score" lines cut to deep and on card stock when you fold it to many times it comes apart like perforations instead of scoring. I don't know if I am expaining this right but hopefully someone will know what I am talking about. Any help would be much appreciated.

I know some people turn their blades upside down in the blade holder.

If you did that how do you stop it in the middle of cutting? Can you pause the cutting process, switch the blade and then start where you left off?

If you have SCAL2, you set up your cut lines in 1 layer and your score lines in another layer. Score your lines first, turn your blade around and then cut your file.

When I need score line I create them separately from the main design. Load both file into SCAL, size them together, delete the main file and cut with the blade upside down, push Load Paper so the paper is in the same place (do not use Unload Paper); change the blade to the correct position, press Undo to bring the main file back and should be the correct size, delete the score lines and then cut.

Thank you all for the help. I did figure out a way to make my score lines work. I tried the upside down blade but it really didn't make much of a mark for me to see. I used layers and turned off the main cut layer and when I went to do the score lines I lowered the pressure to 2 and changed the blade depth to 1, It makes enough of a mark for me to see and doesn't cut all the way through my card stock.

To make the score lines with your cricut you would need a high pressure setting.. It does work :D

I did get a faint line but with my eye sight and the paper I was using it didn't work well for me. I had it on the highedt I could get it. My daughter picked really heavy card stock with and odd texture, of course it couldn't be something simple, LOL. Thanks for all your help.
