0.46 now ready for download

Post by susibi »

yeah - the windows .exe for version 0.46 is now ready, so on the http://www.inkscape.org home page when you see 'current stable version 0.46' that is what you are downloading.
The interface is more modern and as mentioned before there are a couple of extra tools and commands but the basics are the same.
Hmm - thought i was supposed to be finishing an order today! Well I've got until midnight so I'm sure I can spare a couple of hours to play!!

Thanks for the info Susibi! I had downloaded the previous "unstable" version and it was terrible. I'm looking forward to playing, without crashing :)

Susibi, are you having any issues with changing fonts? When I select one, it highlights, the font box does not close, and it then goes back to the font that was selected when the page opened, when I click on the page.

Are you changing fonts by clicking on the drop down font list on the top left of the page?
To tell the truth I never use that as in every version I've tried it has always created problems, and I never recommend it in the tutorials I write - I always use the T box on the top tool bar - choose the font, save as default and close the window.
Might seem a bit longer but causes a lot less problems in the long run.

Yes, I have been trying to use the drop down list, since it wasn't working for me, I went to the text button. I have noticed that after you change in the text box, the drop down list will change the fonts. Hmmmm, it has got me puzzled. :? I have been searching the Inkscape "bugs" site for any answers, I probably should just use your method and move on. ;) I'm wasting all my creative time. :D

Thanks for your input!

Changing fonts was the only problem I had in the unstable version. I started using the text tool, hit apply and was good to go.

Is using the drop-down for fonts still a problem in the new version?

Doesn't work for me either! But then again the 45 didn't work for me ...I tried it with a paid font..DB from lettering delights...It was a dingbat...I sent it up in the little font box that opens and set as default...It shows as dings in the preview, but when I close the little box and type it's letters! I was hoping the new version would NOT do this!!!

I found that the fonts from Lettering delights are much better used with their browser or saved as jpeg images - they gave me too much hassle to be practical.
