After owning SCAL2 for a few months now, I have found that I NEVER use my cricut cartridges. It's just too cumbersome - even in Design Studio. Now that I am finally figuring out how to do so much more with SCAL and Inkscape . . . I think I am finally going to sell my carts to friends/family who are not as computer savvy and still use just cartridges with their cricut.
The only thing that makes me a tad nervous . . . what if Provocraft figures out a way to stop us from using SCAL?!?!?!? I'm not very techy - so is that even possible?!?!!?
Goodbye Cartridges . . .

Unless you keep updating your firmware, there isn't anyway that they can stop us from using SCAL.

I thought the same thing. I've had Cricut since '07 and SCAL since '08. I love SCAL, so I gave away some of my cartridges and I wish I hadn't. I mainly use SCAL, but sometimes I want a quick cut without hooking up my computer. I only kept about four or five fonts cartridges and Tags, Bags, etc. and a few shape carts. In fact, I just recently bought wild card.
So my point is "keep a few of your favorites".
