I'd love to know how to do this in inkscape. I was going to try it in Photoshop but then I'd have to import it into inkscape anyway.

I hope this is what you were wanting. I start by opening the file and importing my jpg of a coloring book page. I open the edit file and then choose make a bitmap copy it'l have a little camera. there will be two files one you cant see because they are stacked. Move the graphic over with the selecting tool and select the other then delete it. Select the bmp graphic that is left. Now to to View and then in the display mode chose outline. You will get a big red x in a box. Make sure it is still selected then you go to path and trace bmp a balloon window will come up and will have an option of choosing update then ok. At that point you need to seperate your graphic and red x. Select the red x and delete. And one more time select your grafhic and go to path again and choose break apart. Click anywhere on the canvas a to deselect and your parts are all apart. If your graphic was not good you may have connected lines where you don't want them but that is a story I just learned yesterday.
All this sounds hard but it really isn't. Just practice. I just did a real cute scut of bugs life and turned out real cute. I would love to share it with everyone but am afraid of the copy right laws. Guess shouldn't say that. I was just coloring the color book

One thing I left out this has to be done in Inkscape.
