A Request from me! :-)

Post by LauraK »

I'm able to make fairly simple SVG's, but I have a bit of a complicated request. I'm looking for a collection of SVG's that I can use to make one of those cardboard skeleton decorations. Have any of you ever seen those? With brads or eyelets at the joints, and all the peices poseable? The ribcage would probably be the biggest portion, filling a 12x12 mat. This was suggested on the SVGCuts forum, and I've looked everywhere for one, and also tried to find a way to make one, but I'm just not that good. Can anyone do this? If you've never seen one of these, here's an example. http://images.halloweenexpress.com/sour ... 8-WA03.jpg
And another example:

Obviously, the human skeleton has to be simplified quite a bit to make it simple enough to peice without turning into a ridiculous jigsaw puzzle.

They look like they wouldn't work very well as a cutout.

I sooo much appreciate it. I mean, svg's aren't just for cards and scrapbook pages! Making decorations with it would be so cool.

Ok, I'm tinkering with this in Inkscape right now, but I'm still learning all of this stuff too. So here is the patterns I found that I thought would make great svg's. What do you think? I just am not sure if I can make them look right. I wonder if one of the pro's could do it quick for ya. I'll keep on playin' though. But for now, thought I'd share.

Note: If you will click on the pictures next to the numbers, they will come up big and you can save them.

That would be a lot of piecing, but if you cut the pieces out of white and then put them on a black base, then join the pieced pieces ( :D ) together it should work. The biggest restriction on this is the size of the cutting mat.

It actually wouldn't have to be that complicated, actually. Creative license can be taken to join many of the bone segments of the skeleton together, to the point that each segment of the decoration becomes one piece. Then, all you have to do is layer it on the black backround, and you're done!

Southernbellescrap, that actually is what I was looking for! For the sake of easier piecing, as I said in my last post, I would join the rib segments to the rest of the ribcage, so that it cuts as one.
