You just need to ungroup everything. SCAL doesn't like GROUPS

In addition to the groups, the hammer has clones and open line segments stacked in it. SCAL doesn't like open lines and will cut extra lines to connect them. HTH

at the bottom tool bar will tell you what's going on in the file

Sorry, but I guess I cropped off the bottom of the Tool Bar in Inkscape but if you select the items listed or on the mat it will tell you most everything about the file, svg, nodes clones etc

I ungrouped it until the message bar in Ink didn't list any more clones, then it showed several bounding boxes in the hammer area. I clicked off, then back in that area. The message bar at the bottom of the window said that two of the hammer images were clones. I thought you could convert clones to Path, but Ink is giving me the "no object to convert" message so I'm not really sure exactly what is happening there.
