Post by savnrmemries »

Is there a tutorial on creating SVG files somewhere? I would sure love to be able to create my own svg pictures to cut with my cricut!

Thanks

Is there a tutorial on just learning to do simple things with the software. Like how do you weld the letters together to make contentious cut. And when you all are cutting do u have to use a 12x12 sheet of paper each time. I tired to use a 8x8 yesterday and it started cutting where the 12x12 would have cut. Would really like some basic instructions b/4 I purchase.
Thanks

There is a link to the tutorial for making .svg files on the Products page ( if you scroll down to my post Todd I can't post a pdf I give a link there as well)

As far as SCAL goes - it's very easy to use and you don't really need a tutorial to use it.
To weld you type your letters then nudge them together and click weld and then hit the preview button which lets you see what you've welded.
If you go back through the posts from March 9th when the new version came out there are some instructions.
The things you can do within SCAL itself aren't difficult to manage as it's not a full blown graphics program: type and weld, skew, resize titles and make mats, use the fonts from your computer, the shapes from the SCAL shape library and any dingbats which are suitable for cutting.
Downloading the trial version gives you a couple of days to try it out and see if you like it.

About paper sizes: I choose the Cutter>matsize>12x12 & I put my designs in the top left hand corner of the on screen page so I know they'll cut on the right hand side of my paper as I put it into the machine, then place whichever size of paper I'm using on the top rightand side of my mat . If you design within an 8x8 region I'm sure you can use your 8x8 papers

I agree ... as far as using SCAL goes it's fairly easy to pick up and learn. There are a few quirks with it that I was naive about, but after a few trial and error type designs I figured most everything out. Here it is a day later and I am welding letters like a pro!! Can't say that about learning to use my Cricut machine as there are STILL things I can't figure out how to do. Thanks to TODD for all his hard work!!!
