SCAL 4 Print & Cut Question

Post by MyArtisticAdventures »

Just bought the program because when I saw the Scan and Cut feature I thought WOW...gotta have this :0)...watched a video and liked the way the interface looked....
I currently use Make the Cut (the program has not been updated since 2013) and mainly use the Print and Cut Feature. So I opened up SCAL 4 and let me just say that I LOVE the interface...nice and easy to see tools and crisp colors :0) but....when I imported my collage sheet (with multiple images) and I did the pixel trace the cut lines appeared. Then when I went to break my images/cut lines apart, if I chose (Break apart" the images disappear. If I chose "Ungroup" only the cutlines un-group, not the images which I am used to having happen. Please tell me that I am just doing something wrong...and that I will be able to separate the images....or I have just purchased a program that that is not going to work for me....ad I really do love the interface so much better....I have attached two images so you can see what I mean...[imgImage]

I am thinking if I can't break up an image in PNC...that I won't be able to do that with the Scan either....
Thank you for any help.
Have a great day :0)

It's not as straight forward as it is in MTC. But there are ways to accomplish it. First, what is your goal in separating the images? Is it because there are some that you don't want to use at all? If that's the case, then in the Trace Image window, use the crop icon to narrow in on just the part of the image you want to trace and the rest will be ignored. Another option is to not check the box to import the pattern... only have it do the trace. Then use the Pattern fill capability to fill each individual shape with that pattern. That can be a bit tedious if you're trying to fill ALL of the shapes but not so bad for just a few.

In the Trace Image window, there is a setting called Detail. The lower that value, the more it will filter out small shapes. It's the equivalent of Despeckle but works in an opposite direction.

Sandy,

Thank you for the answer...I will check it out. I create the collage sheets and then upload them to MTC and then will use them sometimes separate to create other projects. Or sometimes I just want to enlarge one image...and cut out multiples of it. I know I could just add each image separately...I was just hoping to save a step :0) Not have to learn something new...lol. I really love the interface better...reminds me of Inkscape etc....nice and easy to read buttons etc....So now I just need to play around and figure it out...and set it up to cut :0)

So I will try the things out that you mentioned :0) I appreciate it ...

Hugs
