I have tried to cut three projects I have used succesfully before - baby cribs but this time they are cutting with lines through them. I haven't used the little bug for a couple of weeks and was asked to update firmware which I did. I received this update message previously but each time the firmware remains at 1.01. I only have the CDS trial version but never had a problem before.
I have read through previous posts but these seem to relate to cutting letters or fonts or are inkscape related. I am desperately trying to make a gift for a friend whi has just had a new baby so any help appreciated.
I would roll back to a previous version if I could find out how to - previous was 1.01 and that's what I still have.
Thanks for any help you can give

Re: Projects end up with cut lines using trial version
The trial version has always had a "watermark" feature in it where it cuts 3 lines through every image you cut out - so that you can test it but can't use it fully until you pay for it.
I am not sure how you managed it before but that would seem to be what your problem is - that you are using the trial version.

If you still are using the same CDS trial to update, your firmware will stay the same.
Did you update SCAL to the latest version-- is that the previous version 1.01 that you are referring to?

Re: Projects end up with cut lines using trial version
I know that the SCAL trial version cuts lines through projects but this is the CDS trial version that I have never encountered any problems with. I am trying to cut an old Cricut project I have previously cut 2 or 3 times. My version of SCAL is 1.011 as I never felt I needed to update until all the problems with compatibility were resolved.
If the firmware doesn't update on the trial version of CDS why do I get the message to update and it then does nothing?

Just a thought:
Have you unistalled and reinstalled SCAL?
If so, you need a new activation code, otherwise it will function as a trial version.
If not, then need clarification:
When you turn your bug on, what version firmware does it say on the screen on the bug itself?
[The firmware version number is not the same actual number as the version of CDS or SCAL]
What program asked you to update firmware on the bug?

No, have not done anything with SCAL. I was only working with the expression and the trial version of CDS. The expression displays 1.01 and so does the CDS trial version. This has never happened before.
I have just now updated SCAL but don't know whether that will make any difference at all.
No it hasn't made any difference - still a cut through another design.

That is a bit odd to me.The expression displays 1.01 and so does the CDS trial version.
I've seen the expression itself say v 1.1 , 1. 3, etc but never 2 numbers after the decimal.
Just to clarify, the file you were trying to cut, were you cutting it in SCAL or in CDS ?

My error the expression has v1.1 and CDS has 1.011.
I have now uninstalled CDS and reinstalled which seems to have cured the problem but I have now noticed that after the SCAL update the cutting is soooo slow - I think I saw another post on this. I will have to keep my fingers crossed that my project will now cut properly.

I did see some posts on this, but then I saw mention that the 1.015 version download on the home page here is actually 1.016 and that it seemed to cut faster.after the SCAL update the cutting is soooo slow
I haven't seen a significant difference, but I usually cut slow anyway.
Glad it seems to be working now--Hope it still is.

Don't believe it - just cut the crib again and 2 cuts in crucial places. Help - I have no idea what to do next - thought the uninstall would resolve the problem.
