16oz Tumbler Template

Post by Jillybean »

Hi,

Does anyone have a 16oz tumbler template svg? I am making a bunch of tumblers and thought having a template would help with lining everything up.

Thanks!

I know this is an older post but I need to learn how to cut vinyl wording for wine glasses and also I have some beer glasses that curve inward instead of outward like wine glasses do. I am really new to this, but I see wording done on wine glasses all over the internet. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard. I am wondering if there is a tutorial already posted about how to do this in SCAL. Or maybe someone would take pity on a newbie and do a brief tutorial? This is really alluding me and I am becoming quite frustrated. I don't mind practicing until I get it right, but I don't know where to begin. Please help!

I have done lots of glasses. I use a feature (Envelope Distort) in Illustrator that allows me to Warp the artworks about 11% so that when I wrap the artwork around the glass, it is straight across and not curved. I say 11%, because that is what worked for my glasses. You might have to use a higher or lower percentage. I always test print before I cut an actual template.

If I remember correctly later versions of SCAL2 and then upward you would use Text on Path. There are a couple of video's for how to. You can draw your path with the pen tool or draw an oval/elipse that gives you the curve you want. I'd even try doing it on a "cupcake" wrapper image :D

Search this forum for Type on Path and you will find several conversations. Also YOUTUBE has at least two.

Let us know how you do.

I don't know how to do it in Inkscape. I think Heather does. Hopefully she will read this thread.

Yes, I have Inkscape and Photoshop, but do not have Illustrator. Not very proficient in Inkscape, but I'm willing to learn.

Not Heather, but here is how I do it in Inkscape:

1.. Type your text.

2. Change text to nodes by Path/Object to Path.

3. Highlight all the text, then Object/Ungroup.

4. Highlight all the text, Path/Union (to put the letters all back into one path)

5. Path/ Path Effect Editor, under the Apply new effect, click on Bend and then click on the Bend path with the "noode graphic". A green line comes up across the text with a node at each end of the line. Click on the green line and bend it as you wish.

6. When you have bent the text as you wish, then highlight the text and do a Path/Object to Path to move the nodes and "lock/save" them in place.
