I definately want something to be compatible with SCAL
I'm used to the program now and want to continue with it

Does anyone know if there is a way to undo an update made to a cricut?

I will have to check lots of reviews, i'm leaning towards the ecraft just because of the no cutting mats (I live in Canada its hard to get anything here, my SIL has pazzles and can't get her mats anywhere but online)
I'm not sure about the $ point of the black cougar. I mainly just do scrapbook pages, some gift boxes/bags and banners and cupcake toppers. Sometimes I cut vinyl for the kids

I pretty much just want the freedom to not be tied done to buying a company's cartridges and images anymore and use the zillion of svg files out there in cyberspace. At this point i'm not into creating my own images yet

I love my Cougar and my 11 year old daughter loves the gazelle I bought before I got the Cougar, but really think about what your needs and plans are for your new machine and how much you can afford to spend.decide what your going to be cutting and go from there.

you know what, strange thing happened, went to a friends house, looked at it again, when I hit the cut button on SCAL I switched the machine to cricut create (not sure why it wasn't there before) and saw it said v. 1.54 and tried it and it worked again! such a huge relief!!

Glad it worked out for you. Maybe you just had to restart and reboot everything.
