And I am going to post another thread that may help.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26472&p=102463&hili ... om#p102463

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26279&p=101904&hili ... om#p101904

Maybe you could pm the Weber(last name)member and see what happened for her regarding this, in this last post.

You could also try to ask CE support, but not sure what they can do now that scal 2 is obsolete in regards to those machines.
Hope you get it running again.

Your SCAL should be updated to version 2.044.

The cougar is top of the line and expensive. But, I hear it's a great cutter and will cut a lot more than just paper. Both the Eclips and the Cameo seem to be the two popular ones these days. The Cameo works with SCAL 3 and the Eclips works with ECAL (special version of SCAL to utilize it's extra features). You'd probably be happy with either one. Lots of eCraft users love that cutter too, but there are an equal amount of people who return it as they aren't happy with it. Just has higher learning curve to make it work well I guess (but I'm not the expert...this is all hearsay). Happy shopping. FYI, I have an Eclips and love it.

You can find the names of all the machines that are compatible with SCAL 3, which if you owned scal2 you can download from the downloads page for free.

Then, if you enter in all of the machines that you are thinking about in our search, OR if you go

viewforum.php?f=85

here, you will find all the talk about the machines. Good luck.

I recently purchased an Eclips and absolutely love it. I don't craft as often as most of the ladies on the forum and I like that the Eclips is very user friendly. You tell it the type of medium you are cutting and it makes the adjustments for you. It does PNC with 3 point registration. It can score your fold lines which is really nice-no dashes needed. SCAL made a version of their software dedicated to the Eclips because it has so many extra features. The blades and mats are cheaper than most (including the Cameo). Did I mention that I love my Eclipls? It is cartridge optional. I haven't even tried to cut from the cart that came with it as I don't want to get into the money pit and I like the versatity of getting my imaged from the internet.

I replaced my eCraft with my Eclips and there is no looking back. :D

Just my opinion.
