SCAL + Cricut + Deep Blade (xpost)

Post by magistra »

I did post this on another board, so I apologize if you are seeing it twice.

I can't figure out what is going on here. I cut some images out in SCAL and it worked fine on everything except this deep blade housing.

i am trying to cut a word book out with chipboard. I bought a deep cut blade
and put it in the housing and put it in the E machine.
My cutting is off. For example, the circle that would be cut out of the R was
about 3 inches AFTER the R. What's up with this? Is there a way to install
that blade? All I did was remove the blade and pop the other one in.

I bought the deep cut blade housing with the blade.

I'm using chipboard that is about the same as the cardboard one might find in the bottom of a ream of notebook paper (I'm a teacher, so I see a lot of that!).

I put the regular blade in and used the same settings as below EXCEPT the regular blade was at 3 and the word cut out in perfect FORM but it didn't cut all the way through-almost, but not quite.

My settings are as follows:
blade: 6
pressure: max
speed: med

How do I get this to work right again?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

If you can put the regular blade in and get it to cut right with the regular blade then there is something wrong with your deep cut blade and or housing. If it still cuts wrong with your regular blade now, then you have mistakenly, ungrouped and lost the center of the R down the road somewhere. And maybe even made it invisible :) Go to Object Show All, and find that middle and put it back in the R and the put a box around everything and merge...that might work. Let us know what is happening.

Thanks.
It cut just fine with the regular blade.
Does the machine communicate with the blade to tell it what it is to do? How can the housing/blade cause the cut to be off? I figured it would be the machine communicating with the arm of the machine that HOLDS the housing/blade... but I'm not an engineer. If it's the housing/blade, then I just lost a lot of money on a useless housing/blade.

I think the blade housing is just made for the different blade type and that is all...a bit stronger for thicker harder materials.
I think something is wrong with that and I would not use it at all as it could damage the whole machine.
I tried to cut tin with mine and it struggled and luckily I shut it before I broke the whole thing. Things started to wiggle that don't usually wiggle. Sorry I can not be of more help...contact who you purchased from perhaps.
