I tried downloading the Halohandletter font 4 times. Every time I tried opening it I always got a error stating file is not a valid archive. Any ideas? I love this font as it's very close to my own handwriting.

If you Google Halo Handletter, you will see that it is available from dozens of places. Maybe one of the others will work for you.
If your handwriting looks like that, you should consider making your own font. You can do that for free here
