Hello!
I haven't posted here in quite a long time. I have one of the original, small sized Cricut machines. Earlier this year I upgraded my laptop, and it was several months later that I realized that I didn't transfer my SCAL program to my new one. I had to contact the reseller I bought it from to get my serial#, since it was lost with the old computer. So, now I'm not sure what I need to do to get SCAL set up on my new computer. It's been a while since I'd used the program. Where's the best place to download SCAL now? I see there's a new version of the software available, was that a free upgrade, or can I still download the original program? I also vaguely remember that I had to download an old version of a different program (a Cricut program, maybe? I don't remember) before SCAL would work... could someone point me to where I can get whatever that was, also? I'm running Windows 7 now, hoping all this will still work for me!
Thanks SO much for any help!
Can someone help me get this set up, please?

I would download SCAL from this site, Craft Edge, where this forum is located..go to Craft Edge and click on the downloads link. You then should be able to download your version of SCAL again or if not, contact them and they will request your serial number and you will go from there.
Also, if you had SCAL2, you can get the upgrade to SCAL3 free. I did this and saved it so I have it for future use. I think after this month, that offer may be done. If you have the first SCAL, you no longer can get SCAL2 as Provocraft settled lawsuit with Craft Edge as long as SCAL2 was no longer for purchase. SCAL3 is only for other cutters and not Cricut.
As far as upgrading your "C", be a little cautious there, as they have now some new upgrades in firmware and may inhibit you from cutting from another program. Up til a week or so ago, you could download the free "CCR" on their site and get the desktop program which is their new program. It may ask you to upgrade your "C's" firmware and I didn't and CCR still works for me. But I'm not sure that will continue. You may want to check SVGcuts forum and read Leo's take on it and other people's comments. I won't upgrade firmware because of what they may inhibit.
Hope this helps you out.

Thank you for your replies
I was able to download my previous version, I was just using version 1 and am happy with it, so I'm not concerned about not having version 2. I seem to recall the only reason I needed the old Cricut software was to up/downgrade the firmware on my Cricut when I first got SCAL so it would work together, so I'm thinking it should still work fine. Now I'm just waiting on an email reply from CraftEdge because I'm having trouble activating the program on my new computer. I appreciate the help!
