Installation questions

Hi everyone! I am a newbie! I bought the software when I saw the coupon code on Friday. I haven't installed yet. I have some questions and don't want to mess up. I have been reading all the posts first. There seem to be some real experts here, who even share their cool designs. Thanks in advance for that!!
Here are my questions...
1. Can this be installed onto an EHD(External Hard Drive)? I'm afraid my laptop is too full to handle this? I also have a desktop computer in the house and saw a post that said you would get 2 serial numbers ( I didn't- but have sent an email to support to ask about that)
2. I have to go get a USB/USB cord. All mine have a only USB on one end but not the other...I saw something about A/B USB. Is that marked on the pkg? Is that something special?
3. I think the steps towards installation are a bit confusing. Maybe I should Just Do It! and then ask questions... First I need to connect my baby bug and update the Firmware from the CDS site(I saw a mention of a different link that may be better??) Then, install some drivers and then install the program w/ my Serial number (Is that my code?)
Anything else??

Well, I did it! It is cutting some test things right now! I am so excited.
I still have a question about installing it onto an External Hard Drive? Has anybody done that? Right now I have it installed on the kitchen desktop. Todd emailed me back and said that my serial # can be used twice. That's cool!
Well, I'm off to try downloading a SVG file.

I use and EHD for all of my software applications that require serial numbers for my laptop...th software is stored on the EHD but the serial number is stored in your computer's key registry, so you will be tied to the computer with your EHD (can't connect your EHD into a different computer and it will run).
