Please help... so frustrated!

Post by MotherGoose09 »

I saw a post similar to this but the replies didnot help me.
I am trying to install some fonts on my computer to use with SCAL... mainly "monogram kk".
When I try, I get the message that it is not a validfont file and cannot be installed.

Please help as I have been trying to install this font for a week now.

Did you unzip the font? Most font downloads are zipped. Scrappingtable has some nice tuts on installing fonts once unzipped. http://www.scrappingtable.com/helpwithfonts.html HTH

Yes, I unzipped. I just can't get this to work. I'm using Vista. Is this why?

Might try downloading again, from another site if possible, in case you got a corrupted file. SVGcuts.com has a video on installing fonts in Vista. Maybe that will help. Good luck.

Move the file to your desktop. Open it and then minimize it. Open notepad or some other word processor and see it it's there. If it isn't, then the file is bad.

If it is there, go to SCAL and see if it is there.

I just downloaded this font and when I open SCAL, it is almost at the bottom of the list. Scroll down until you find it. It isn't listed alphabetically.

"When you unzipped and extracted it did you right click on the file that extracted and hit install???? You have to install the font first. If you are just clicking on the file that is why you get the error message."
Someone posted this on another thread...thought I'd share it here. Some fonts have to be "installed" by clicking on a .exe file in the folder, not just drag and drop to fonts...I'm not sure if that is what she is referring to here or not.

Bad Bad idea. I wouldn't run a .exe from anywhere without a solid (and known) background. Fonts don't need a .exe for installation.

Thanks Todd... I'll try again and I'll check the bottom of the list when I get home. I'm on another computer now!
