newbie needs help..

Hi!
I am so new to this! I have so many questions - do I have to have Inkspace in order to cut fonts on my Expression. I have tried to cut my name and the best I can manage is the 'W' before the cricut spits out the mat! It is so slow - I can't beleive how long it takes to anything! Maybe someone out there could tell me what I'm doing wrong

You do not need inkscape to cut letters (unless you need to alter a letter that has issues - but that's another topic). If you are cutting solid-looking letters you should be able to do all in SCAL and weld. It should not take long. Check your speed settings in the program.
